Why Use BIM?
BIM Examples

What is BIM?
Building Information Modeling is a process that incorporates and combines many aspects of a building into a 3D model. Generally, a single model is created by merging the many different layers from different trades and companies.
Benefits of BIM
- Increased Coordination
- Solve Problems Before They Happen
- Streamline Construction
Our Process
SCS Engineering is ready to be your BIM Coordinator. It is our job to make sure that all of the individual trades and companies work together. We usually plan to hold 2-4 coordination meetings a month so that 'clashes' can be fixed as they arise.
First we need to get everyone on the same page. Check out our standard Kick Off Memo that we use to get things started. We establish a FTP share site just for your job; this way all files are available at all times. After drawing files are provided by the EOR and Architecture firm we break the file up into floors and areas as needed.
After the different trades post their models and the 1st and 2nd floor are established it is time to have the first clash meeting. We use AutoDesk NavisWorks to handle our models and clash testing; we are able to import and process basically any file format provided.
In each meeting it is decided what needs to change in order to accomodate one party or another. Periodically new models are posted and a new clash test is run. We continue this process until the lower floors are constructed and the process becomes redundant.
